Corals

Soft corals, LPS, SPS and zoanthids for reef aquariums. Tell us about your lighting, flow and water chemistry, and we will talk through what will do well in your system.

What is on the floor changes regularly, so call or visit to ask about something specific.

Soft Corals

Leathers, mushrooms and other corals without a stony skeleton. Most tolerate a range of lighting and water chemistry, which makes them the usual first corals in a new reef.

LPS Corals

Large polyp stony corals such as hammers, torches, brains and acans. They grow a stony skeleton, so they need steady calcium and alkalinity with moderate light and flow. A good next step once a reef is stable.

SPS Corals

Small polyp stony corals such as acropora and montipora. They grow quickly under strong light and flow and are the least forgiving of swings in water chemistry. For experienced reefkeepers with a mature, stable system.

Zoanthids

Colonies of small, colorful polyps that spread across rock. Hardy and quick to grow in most reef tanks, and a common way to add color low in the rockwork. Handle them with gloves: some carry a toxin called palytoxin.
